Each year, the Seneca Waterways Council (Boy Scouts), has an auction, selling local merchandise or services to raise money for their organization. The Irondequoit Fire District offered a ride on our fireboat. While we are not in the tour boat business, the Boy Scouts have a direct connection to us. The Boy Scouts are the governing body of our Explorer program.
Fire Service Exploring is a program offered by Learning for Life that introduces major aspects of the fire service to young adults ages 14–21, or in the ninth grade. Once enough training has been acquired, Explorers can be allowed on actual fire-related emergency calls under certain conditions. Many of our officers and members (career and volunteer) started in Explorers. Our Fire Chief started in the Exploring program and his father was one of the original advisors! You can read about the Explorer Post history by clicking on the link.
If you have a son or daughter that is interested in joining the Explorers, please look on our website for information on how to join.
We would like to thank Steve, Aaron and Steve from B & L Wholesale for bidding on, and winning this years trip. Your contribution helped raise a lot of money towards the Scouting program . It was a pleasure taking you out, showing you the areas we cover, showing the very dynamic features of Irondequoit Bay, and showing you the capabilities of our fireboat, Marine 1776 (and bonus tour of USCG 45727!
We would also like to thank USCG Rochester for stopping by, and tying up with us out in Irondequoit Bay, while they were out on patrol.
