Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Ian Palmer who has been promoted to the position of Fire Lieutenant!

Ian began his fire service career as a volunteer Firefighter with the Ridge Culver Fire Department in 2009 before getting hired full time in 2017. Over the years Ian has stepped up to help with numerous assignments ranging from Fire Prevention, recruit training and physical fitness training. In October of this year Ian was temporarily appointed to a "Temporary Lieutenant" position where he served until his recent promotion which took affect on 12/26/22.

Like many Firefighters, Ian's family has a rich history in the fire service and specifically in Irondequoit. Ian's great grandfather, grandfather and uncle all served through the Ridge Culver Fire Department. Additionally, Ian's younger brother recently joined IFD as a Volunteer Firefighter.

Ian is currently a member of the United States Air Force where he holds the rank of Technical Sergeant and Assistant Chief of health and safety.
