At around 09:15 hrs this morning, the Laurelton Fire District and Ridge Culver Fire District both made their final radio transmissions as independent departments. With the help of the Fire Dispatchers at 911, they read prepared statements thanking their members for all of their work, past and present, and signed off the air for the final time.

The crews brought down the department flags from the flag poles with a salute, and hoisted the new Irondequoit Fire District flag with another.

The Fire Dispatcher activated the new IFD tones one more time for both stations to sign on the air as IFD. The career and volunteer members of IFD are excited to see this change come to fruition and are ready, willing, and able to serve the residents of Irondequoit and beyond.

This, first in the State, historic merger will forge the path for the future.
